Jerome Bahati, 66, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, Sept. 4, 2009. Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids, by Pastor Sylvain Muzuza, assisted by Pastor Clement Mukumpisa. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial: Martin Creek Cemetery, Marion, Iowa.
Survivors include 3 sons, John B. Bahati, Yonah Bahati and Samuel Bahati; 2 daughters, Maurine Bahati and Sela Soldat; 3 brothers, Edie Vyanzira, Gabriel Kasika and Kampale Lusiani; 1 sister, Veronica; and 5 grandchildren, Olivia, Elijah, Kylie, Akil and Zuhura.
Jerome was born July 4, 1943, in DR Congo, the son of Joseph and Veronika Bakhwanama. He was a housekeeper for the Marriott Hotel. Jerome was also a Christian.
The Jerome Bahati Memorial Fund has been established at the Linn Area Credit Union, Cedar Rapids.
