Patricia "Pat" Ament, 83, formerly of Cedar Rapids, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2014, peacefully at
home after a long and chronic illness. Services: 11a.m. Saturday at Teahen Funeral Home, by the Rev. Stasia Fine.
Pat is survived by her son, Jon P. (Jayne) Ament of Solon; daughter, Joy J. Ament of Lucas; grandchildren, Emily, Natalie and Justin Ament; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John; son, James; and two brothers, Forrest and Gerald Gorton.
Patricia was born Oct. 27, 1930, in Roland, the daughter of Forest and Celia Brouwer Gorton.
She loved gardening and crafts and spent many happy years playing tennis and bridge with her family and friends.
Pat was a loving mother and grandmother, full of laughter and kindness. With beautiful blue eyes and a smile that lit up any room, she could make even a stranger feel as if they had come home. With the comfort she gave, it was often said she was everybody's mom.
She will be missed and celebrated by her family, friends, and all those who were blessed by her loving nature.
