Lorraine Hunter, 82, died Tuesday morning, April 3, 2018, at her home following an extended illness. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 6, at St. Luke's Catholic Church, Hopkinton, with interment in the Hopkinton Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 until 7 p.m. Thursday at the church and after 9:30 a.m. Friday. Father Paul Baldwin will officiate
at the services. Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, is in charge of the arrangements.

Surviving are eight children, Frederick Jr. (Linda), Steve (Donna), Dave (Dawn), Lana Joslin, Paul (Julie) and Don (Wendy), all of Hopkinton, Jim (Deb) Monticello, and Bob (Debora), Phoenix, Ariz.; 20 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and four siblings, Lois (Bob) Leonard, Rita (Wilfred) Kleitsch, Don (Sandy) Sternhagen and Mary (Tom) Takes.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fred, in 1995; her stepfather, Frank Miller; and two sisters, Helen and Marlene.
Lorraine Sternhagen was born May 30, 1935, near Farley, Iowa. She was the daughter of William and Grace Tucker Sternhagen. She attended rural schools before going to St. Martin's High School in Cascade. Lorraine Sternhagen and Fred Hunter were married May 6, 1956, at St. Martin's Catholic Church, Cascade. The couple lived in Cascade, where Lorraine worked at Ensign Coil. In 1965, Lorraine and Fred moved their family to Hopkinton and, in 1969, Lorraine went to work at Ertl Toy Co. in Dyersville. She retired from there in 1996.
Lorraine loved time spent with her family and time to sit on her front porch and watch people go by. She also enjoyed crocheting afghans and gardening.
