WILLIAM "BILL" ELLIS

William "Bill" Ellis, 76, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Sunday, Nov. 11, 2018, at the VA Health Care System in Iowa City. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Czech National Cemetery at a later date.
Bill was born March 19, 1942, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Charles and Hazel (Reinberg) Ellis. He worked for the Iowa D.O.T. and Klinger Paint. Bill was a member of the Eagles Club, Moose Lodge and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He loved to work on old cars and motorcycles and was always willing to help out family members with their vehicles. Bill often socialized at CJ's Sports Bar & Grill in Czech Village.
Bill is survived by his wife, Marie Ellis of Cedar Rapids; daughters, Judy (Craig) Willman, Sue (Mel) Ellis and Chris (Pat) Mooney, all of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepson, Eveard Hartson; great-grandaughter, Tayah Mease; six brothers; and one sister.
The family would like to thank the fifth floor staff at the VA Hospital in Iowa City for their comforting care of Bill.
