CEDAR RAPIDS - Officials with the Cedar Valley Humane Society are set to make a job offer to a new executive director following the departure of Bob Citrullo, who held the position for just under a year.
Kirsten Eddins, the president of the humane society's board, said officials expect to extend an offer sometime this week.
Citrullo left his post at the end of July to take a position at another shelter in Georgia. Eddins said the society's relationship with Citrullo was "nothing but good" and he left on good terms.
"When [Citrullo] notified us he was leaving, we put the wheels in motion right away," Eddins said, adding he alerted Cedar Valley officials in early-July.
Officials will be making the job offer to an external candidate, Eddins said. The board worked with Citrullo in finding his replacement, she said.
Eddins and another member of the board are filling in and supporting the staff until the new director is hired.
In September 2009, the society's board
fired its two co-directors and multiple staffers without any public explanation. About a month later, they
hired Zach Melton as the sole executive director. Melton came to Cedar Rapids after managing a 24-hour animal hospital in Denver, but left for a job in Huntsville, Ala. less than two years later.
