Shirley Ann Fite, 73,
of Marion, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2016, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Graveside service for family and friends will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at Czech National Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, conducted by Pastor Mark Thomas.
Shirley is survived by her children, Terry (Candy) Fite of Marion and Peggy Fite of Cedar Rapids; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lee (Kim) Fite, Bob Fite, Beatrice Fite, Judy Kelley and Deanna (Robert) Schminkey; and many other loving family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Malcom and Mildred; husband, Bud; brother, Malcom Anderson Jr.; and sister, Rosemary Lemburg.
Shirley was born Oct. 1, 1943, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Malcom and Mildred (Hutton) Anderson. On April 20, 1963, in Cedar Rapids, she married Bud Fite. Shirley was a housewife and worked as a waitress at the Cedar Rapids Airport. She was a very spiritual individual. In her free time, Shirley liked to crochet, garden, fish and gamble. She rescued many pets and family members. Shirley enjoyed listening to country music, especially George Jones and George Strait. She also enjoyed traveling. One of her favorite destinations was Las Vegas.
Shirley was a special mom whose life was her children. She treasured the memories of raising her family at Worthington Acres in Cedar Rapids. She will be missed by all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Central Assembly of God, 3030 F Ave. NW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52405; and/or Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, 315 18th Ave., Hiawatha, IA 52233; in Shirley's memory.
