Jacqueline "Jackie" Michel, 87, of Iowa City, formerly of Hills, died Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at Mercy Iowa City.
Jackie was born Oct. 2, 1928, near Hills, Iowa, the daughter of Alex and Vera (Gross) Gringer. Following graduation from City High School in 1946, she attended and graduated from Irish Business College, also in Iowa City. On Sept. 8, 1948, she was united in marriage to Calvin J. "Rink" Michel. For many years, the couple lived in Hills, where they raised their five children.
Her family includes her children, Craig Michel (Pat), Becky Heitzman (Dick), Cindy Wolfe (Ron), Michele Gerot (George) and Robin Zinkula (Allan); 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Thelma Kornegor.
Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two sisters, Lela Simpson and Lillian Yeggy.
In respecting Jackie's wishes, private family services are being planned, with burial next to her husband at St. Stanislaus Cemetery near Hills.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations sent to Gay & Ciha Funeral Home will be made in her memory to the St. Stanislaus Cemetery Fund.
