Jean Marie Halsor, 89, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully Monday, Aug. 14, 2017, at Summit Pointe Senior Living in Marion. Services are to be at a later date. Teahen Funeral Home and Cremation Services is attending the family.
Jean is survived by daughter, Nancy (Mike) Sedlacek of Cedar Rapids; sons, Steve (Susan) Halsor of Albuquerque, N.M., and Michael (Linda) Halsor of Center Point; grandchildren, Bret, Shawnell, Sheena, Dani, Nicole, Jacob, Lindsay, Jenna, Madeleine and Samuel; great-grandchildren, Kaden, Colton, Laila and Teagan; brother, Al Moe; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her son, Richard Alan Halsor; and her great-granddaughter, Evan Hance.
Jean was born March 19, 1928, in Mason City, the daughter of Alonzo and Marie Blattner Moe. She graduated from Mason City High School and attended Lindenwood College in St. Louis, Mo. On Oct. 7, 1950, Jean married Richard Halsor in Mason City, becoming an adoring wife and devoted mother.
Jean loved knitting and was an expert at cross-stitch. In their earlier years, she and Richard enjoyed traveling, with Ireland always holding a special place in her heart. Jean had a special love for pets, and cherished spending time with her family.
