A 51-year-old Marion man was arrested for extortion in Johnson County Wednesday after authorities say he threatened to post nude photos of a 14-year-old female he had contacted online.
According to Johnson County sheriff reports, Daniel J. Herrig, of 1281 Grand Avenue #1, met the 14-year-old girl online and told her that he was a Marion High School student. Herrig allegedly convinced the girl to send him nude photos, then threatened to post them online unless she agreed to meet him in person.
Herrig was being held at the Johnson County Jail Sunday on a $10,000 bond.
Extortion is a class D felony, punishable by up to five years in prison and a maximum $7,500 fine.
