Police gave a 24-year-old man a tough lesson in keeping his mouth shut early Thursday morning.
Police officials say that Joshua Allan White, of 1241 Third Avenue SE, first drew the attention of officers doing a bar check at Bricks on 300 Second Avenue SE at around 1:30 a.m. when he started dropping “f-bombs” at officers. He continued to curse at officers when they approached him, and the officers arrested White for public intoxication.
While officers were placing him in the car, White resisted, and spat at Officer Nathan Baughn. He also tried to kick the officer, but Cedar Rapids Police spokesperson Sgt. Cristy Hamblin said “he was more accurate with his spittal than his kick.”
“(The) Moral of the story is don't ask for help by using the “f” word unless you really need us,” Hamblin said in a statement.
White is being charged with assault on a peace officer, public intoxication and interference with official acts.
He is being held in Linn County Jail on a $3,500 bond or surity.
