CRAG trio captures state gymnastics titles

SIOUX CITY - Hailey Hakes of the Cedar Rapids Association of Gymnastics won two events and Alyssa McAleer and Ava Andrew one each at the Iowa State Championships last weekend.
All in Level 6, Hakes captured the vault and bars and placed second in the beam and all around. McAleer won the beam and placed third in the floor exercise and Andrews won the floor exercise, placed second on the beam and third in all around.
Other CRAG top-three state placewinners were Emma Kelsey and Grace Walker in Level 6, Kyleigh Garcia and Carly Mark in Level 8, and Jenna Danninger in Level 9.
A week earlier, at CRAG's own Leapin' Leprechaun, Jordyn Erickson (bars, beam, all around) won three events in Xcel Gold. Grace Noring (beam, floor) won two gold in Silver, and Macie Forck (bars, all around), Kori Lyle (bars, beam), Emersyn Secora (bars, all around) and Maggie Schlamp (vault, beam) were double-winners in Gold. Other winners were Lindsay Ginger (beam), Lauren Miller (floor), Isabelle Osterhaus (vault), Mya Gilchrist (vault) and Olivia Lukan (floor) in Silver and Faith Pladsen (vault) in Platinum.
Placewinners were Chole Pate and Hailey Carolan in Silver, and Brooke Glasbrenner, Kaitiyn Stone and Elly Froehlich in Gold.
26 FROM MOSERS WIN TITLES IN C.R.
CEDAR RAPIDS - Twenty-six members of the Moser School of Dance and Gymnastic recently won titles at a USTA Power Tumbling meet here.
There were 15 teams and around 400 athletes in the competition.

Savanna Lehman placed third, along with Ella Marting, Karalyn Recker, Ella Schindler, Makayla Gasper, Gabrielle Guilford, Paige Kremer, Mikya Britton, Katelin Ante, Brooklin Ante, Summer Anderson, Libby Knipper, Madison Butterworth, Adysen Frieden, Claire Cahalan, Tiegen O'Hea, Savannah Freese, Isabella Johnson, Ava Ahart, Ingrid Vaughn, Amy Morris, Destiny Wall, Natalie Ries, Jorgie Schulte and Londyn Truex.
TWISTERS' SANDS WINS STATE GOLD
SIOUX CITY - Alexis Sands of Twisters Gymnastics captured Level 9 state titles in the all around and beam last weekend and placed in two other events.
Teammates Alexis Peterson placed in two events in Level 9 and Allyson Steffensmeier placed in four in Level 10.
The Level 8 team placed third overall, led by placewinners Elise Smith, Lauren Easton, Sam Triplet and Emily Crumbo.
All, as well as Peyton Sands, qualified for regional competition, Smith as a member of the Iowa team.
