Farms face too many interferences

To the editor:
I'm sure there are some old folks out there that remember mom taking a case of eggs to town on Saturday night that paid for the groceries and a trip to the movies. Except for a little laying mash all the chickens' food was gathered from the family farm. The chickens had their own nest big enough to jump in and out of while a cockling noise was heard when the chicken bragged about laying an egg.
This is not a suggestion we feed the world with mom's case of eggs; however, farming was the most independent way of life unchallenged by any other business. A farm with three children made it their duty to see everyone had farm work to do, a pony to ride or a bicycle to travel with. One of the three would marry their neighbor and purchase their own farm. Another would continue to farm the family farm while the third would be rewarded with further education.
Today's farmer with three children needs to send one child to college to be a scientist, another to be a mechanical engineer, and the third to be an attorney to defend the farm from all the political and government issues that face today's farm.
Somewhere between mom's case of eggs and the overblown poultry farms of today lies the answer.
