Chelsea
Richard "Dick" J. VanDeWalle, 87, formerly of Chelsea, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014, at St. Francis Manor in Grinnell, following a lingering illness. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Chelsea with Deacon Joe Behounek presiding. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the service time Wednesday at the church.
Dick is survived by his wife, Mary Lou of Grinnell; son, Rick (Jody) of Chelsea; daughters, Julie (Mark) Vavroch of Montezuma and Susan (Wayne) Glenn of Quincy, Ill.; sisters, Marilyn Meister of Berwyn, Ill., and Cheryl (Richard) Duchacek of Cedar Rapids; brother, David (Suzi) VanDeWalle of Chelsea; also by 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
