Zella Shedeck, 93, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Monday, June 27, 2016, at the Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. In honor of Zella's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. There will be a light luncheon following the service at the Cedar Memorial Family Center.
Zella was born Feb. 10, 1923, in Troy Mills, Iowa, to May (Pugh) and Will Andrews. She lived in Troy Mills until graduating high school. The beloved wife
of Malvern and loving mother to four lucky children, Steve (Kathy) Shedeck, Debra Shedeck, Janet (Roscoe) Dahl and Mal Shedeck. She was a grandmother to Todd, Scott, Kyle, Chris, Cody and Aaron. Other family members left to cherish Zella's memory are her 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Zella was a mother and wife first but held a variety of secretarial jobs and managed the Answer Iowa office in Cedar Rapids for many years. As a sports fan, Zella and Malvern enjoyed golfing and attending sports events together. Being a loyal supporter of her children, she encouraged and attended most activities. At home, she stayed busy working on her genealogy, doing many crafts and was fascinated with her new toy, the computer.
Zella was a kind, loving wife and mother. She never failed to let you know, "You're the Best." She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and two sisters.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the Hospice House of Mercy family for the wonderful care they gave to Zella.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice House of Mercy or the Alzheimer's Association.
