According to HawkeyeReport.com, Maryland safety prospect Nicholas Law has committed to play football for the Hawkeyes.
Law, of Bishop McNamara (Forestville, Md.), visited Iowa last weekend liked what he saw in the wake of the Hawkeyes' rout over then-No. 5 Michigan State, one of the teams that was in pursuit of Law.
The 6-foot-2, 190-pounder has 14 scholarship offers, including Michigan State, Illinois, Maryland, West Virginia, Louisville and Cincinnati.
As a junior Law, a second-team all-conference pick, had 61 tackles, four sacks, two interceptions, two forced fumbles and one defensive TD.
Law is the 16th commitment for Iowa.
Here is a snippet from Scouts Inc. player evaluation from ESPN.com:
"Law is a hard-hitting, rangy defensive back prospect who may grow into an outside linebacker in college. He is tall and lean with great body length. Well-defined and his large frame should be able to pack on great bulk once he enters a full-time college weight training program. Explosive back-seven defender on film who plays the game fast, physical and with great toughness. Has little remorse for his body and is collision type of tackler who can force a turnover or set the tempo of the defense with his hits. Flashes very good plant and drive skill closing on the underneath pass and run. Sharp out of his breaks without . Will likely enter college with better run support skills than pass. Very comfortable playing down in the box. Gets over the trash quickly and pursues with sharp angles for the most part."
