Scott Swenson (see photo), formerly with The Gazette, has been named regional director of the Small Business Development Center at Kirkwood Community College.
Ruhl & Ruhl Realtors hired Sue Ihde (see photo) as an agent in its Cedar Rapids office.
Kelly Marsengill (see photo) has joined Mercy Medical Center's Sedlacek Treatment Center as a clinical supervisor. Marsengill was previously with Area Substance Abuse Center in Cedar Rapids.
Globe Loan Co. has hired Michael Meier (see photo) and Sofia Diaz (see photo) in its Iowa City office at 536 Southgate Ave. Meier, previously with Mutual of Omaha, is branch manager, and Diaz is a customer service representative.
Jonathan Schmidt (see photo) has joined Nazette, Marner, Nathanson & Shea LLP in Cedar Rapids as an attorney.

KUDOS
Jon Kinzenbaw (see photo), founder and president of Kinze Manufacturing, Williamsburg, received the George Washington Carver Distinguished Service award from Iowa State University's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
J.J. Trotta (see photo) of Cedar Rapids became the state humorous speech contest champion, winning the Toastmasters District 19 Championship from Toastmasters International. Trotta, a member of the Sunrise Marion Toastmasters Club, represented the Cedar Rapids-Iowa City-Waterloo corridor and competed against four other division champions.
Steve Ridge (see photo), executive vice president of Frank N. Magid Associates, Marion, was elected an advisory board member of The Marketing Institute, Tippie College of Business at the University of Iowa.
The Iowa Association of Railroad Passengers awarded the Eliot Keller Award to the University of Iowa Athletics Department, Iowa Interstate Railroad and Iowa Northern Railroad for 10 years of service by the Hawkeye Express.
In conjunction with the 35th anniversary of Terry Lockridge & Dunn and World Trend Financial, $3,500 was donated to 28 charities in the Corridor.
Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids has been recognized by CareChex, a division of COMPARION, as No. 1 in Iowa for Overall Hospital Care as well as Top 100 in the Nation and No. 1 in Linn County for Overall Medical Care. The hospital also achieved recognition as Top 100 in Nation and No. 1 in Linn County for Cardiac Care, Interventional Coronary Care, Neurological Care, Pneumonia Care and Pulmonary Care; No. 1 in Iowa for Heart Attack Treatment; No. 1 in Linn County for Spinal Surgery and No. 1 in Iowa for Major Orthopedic Surgery.
