Weber, Donald
Donald Weber, 81, died Wednesday, July 4, 2012, at the Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 9, at St. Luke's Catholic Church, Hopkinton, where friends may call after 9 a.m. Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, is assisting the family.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Mary; a son, Dan; a granddaughter, Beth (Troy) Wolfs, and two great-grandchildren, Tayler and Jordon, all of Tiffin; his sister, Luella (Duane Jr.) DeShaw, Hopkinton; and two brothers, Gerald (Agnes) Weber, Sand Springs, and Delbert (Colleen) Weber, Monticello.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Harold.
Donald Joseph Weber was born Jan. 15, 1931, in Sand Springs, the son of Art and Loretta (Gudenkauf) Weber. He received his education at St. Joseph Catholic School, Prairieburg. Don then started farming with his parents. Donald J. Weber and Mary E. Naber were married Sept. 12, 1951, at St Francis Basilica, Dyersville. Don proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War where he supported anti-aircraft batteries. The couple purchased their farm in Union Township, Delaware County, Iowa on Feb. 8, 1956. They farmed there until they retired on Sept. 8, 2009.
