Rinkema, Richard 'Rick' Dale
Richard “Rick” Dale Rinkema, 62, of Boiling Springs, S.C., formerly of Cedar Rapids, died at home Nov. 20, 2010, having fought a battle with ill health for several years. Graveside cremation services, with military honors, are pending at Good Shepherd Memorial Park in Boiling Springs.
Rick was born in Springfield, Ill., on Nov. 12, 1948. Rick and Susie Budreau were married Oct. 14, 1967, in Marion, Iowa. In September 1967, Rick was drafted into the Army where he served for two years in Neidenbach, Germany. He served an additional 15 years in the Army Reserves and finished his career as a drill sergeant. Rick was a very talented engineer and finished his career at Freightliner in marketing and sales.
Rick is survived by his wife, Susie, of 43 years; a son, David Rinkema and his wife, Kristi; a daughter, Nicole Parris and her husband, Stacey; four grandchildren, Jonathan, Justin, Austin and Casey; a sister, Karen Haywood and her husband, Bill; a brother, James; and his grandmother, Merle Gillespie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Tempe Rinkema.
