Kraninger, Jody Ann (Michael)
Jody Ann (Michael) Kraninger, 37, of 103 North Sullivan, Nora Springs, passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2010, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City. A visitation for Jody will be held from 1 until 3 p.m. Saturday, June 12, at Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 North Hawkeye, Nora Springs. There will also be a visitation on Sunday, June 13, at St. John's Catholic Church, 209 Fifth Ave. NE, Independence, from 5 until 7 p.m. Visitation will also be held one hour before service time Monday at the church. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 14, at St. John's Catholic Church in Independence, with the Rev. Don Plamondon officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in Park Cemetery, Nora Springs.
Jody Ann (Michael) Kraninger was born Feb. 28, 1973, in Independence, Iowa, the daughter of LuVerne and Ruth (Adrian) Michael. Jody grew up in Walker, Iowa, and attended the Independence schools, graduating from Independence High School in 1991. Jody also graduated from the University of Iowa in Iowa City, with a business degree in 1995. Jody moved back to Independence and worked for Triangle Plastics in the office until 1998, when she moved to Nora Springs. She was united in marriage to James D. Kraninger on July 3, 1999, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. After their marriage Jody worked for First State Bank in Nora Springs, Wal-Mart and IC Systems in Mason City.
Jody enjoyed reading, talking with family, shopping, cooking and cook books. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Independence.
Jody will be remembered for her strong will, independent spirit and positive attitude.
Those that are left to cherish her memory are her husband, James Kraninger of Nora Springs; her mother and stepfather, Ruth “Sis” (Steve “Doc”) Kress of Independence; her brothers, Jeremy (Jill) Michael of Sumner and Jon (Mitzi) Michael of Independence; her sister, Lucy (Nick) Swee of Cedar Falls; her stepchildren, Andrew Kraninger of Nora Springs, Ayla Kraninger of Ridgeland, Miss., and Abby Mathers of Nora Springs; her father- and mother-in-law, Ron and Betty Kraninger of Nora Springs; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Kathy (Ron) Henning of Rowley, Fran (Steve) Miller of Muscatine and Mark (Roylee) Kraninger of Bartlett, Tenn.; as well as many nieces, nephews and other extended family members and friends.
Jody was preceded in death by her father, LuVerne Michael; and her paternal and maternal grandparents.
