CEDAR RAPIDS — Four members of the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders are listed by NHL Central Scouting on its initial list of possible selections for the 2016 National Hockey League Draft.
All four players are listed as 'C' prospects, or players likely to be taken in the fourth, fifth or sixth rounds. They are defenseman Derek Daschke, goaltender Ryan Larkin and forwards Matt Filipe and Matt Gosiewski.
Daschke and Larkin are second-year RoughRiders. Daschke had three goals and nine assists in 55 games last season, while Larkin went 15-10 last season with a 2.43 goals against average and .913 save percentage.
He won the 2015-16 regular-season opener last weekend against Lincoln. Daschke has committed to Western Michigan, Larkin to Miami (Ohio).
Left winger Filipe had a goal in his United States Hockey League debut last weekend. He is a Northeastern University commit.
Gosiewski will play his college hockey at Harvard. He spent the previous two seasons playing for Millbrook School prep school in New York.
The USHL had 54 current players listed by Central Scouting, as well as 11 alumni. There will be an updated midseason ranking, followed by a final ranking after the season is completed.
