Darrell D. Gatewood, 65, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Sunday, May 14, 2017, at his home surrounded by his loving family. A funeral service celebrating Darrell's life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 20, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories with the Rev. Glenn Hunt officiating. Entombment will be in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories Stateroom.
Survivors include his wife, Pamela; daughter, Ashley Gatewood of Cedar Rapids; son, Justin (Jody) Gatewood of Ames; grandchildren, Parker and Paige Gatewood and Carson Hobbs; sister, Pam Sillick of Cedar Rapids; father-in-law, Gilbert Paulsen of Kimberling City, Mo.; and Randy (Lori) Paulsen of Nixa, Mo., Steve (Brenda) Paulsen of Jacksonville, Fla.; Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ricky Gatewood; nephew, Ryan Sillick; and mother-in-law, Alice Paulsen.
Darrell Dean Gatewood was born Sept. 19, 1951, the son of Donald and Betty (Richards) Gatewood. On Sept. 10, 1977, he married Pamela Paulsen in Cedar Rapids. He owned and operated Darrell's Boot & Shoe Repair for many years in Cedar Rapids. Darrell enjoyed gardening, playing slots at the casino, music and being with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by all who loved and knew him.
