Robert Eugene Hendricks, 82, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, April 3, 2015, at his home. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, at Brosh Chapel, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW. A private family celebration of Robert's life will be held at Brosh Chapel, with burial in Czech National Cemetery, where full military rites will be conducted.
Robert was born Jan. 29, 1933, in Aurora, S.D., the son of James and Violet Eldora (Yerrington) Hendricks. He served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict from 1953 to 1956. Robert was united in marriage to Darlene May Raim on Dec. 29, 1953, in Iowa City. Robert worked for many years at Cherry Burrell and International Paper until his retirement in 1995.
Robert enjoyed working on cars, building things, woodworking and spending time with his family, especially the grand-children.
Robert is survived by his wife of over 61 years, Darlene; daughter, Terry Lee Kosina of Cedar Rapids; a granddaughter, Casey Day (Nick) Saba of Marion; two great-grandchildren, Kathryn and Kristin Saba; and his brother, Floyd "Al" Hendricks of Hiawatha.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, James and Leroy Hendricks.
