Angels relocate to Burlington

The Los Angeles Angels and Burlington Bees signed a two-year Player Development Contract, ending quite an affiliation re-shufflling in the Midwest League.

The Angels were affiliated with the Cedar Rapids Kernels for 20 years before the Kernels decided to part way and eventually sign a four-year PDC with the Minnesota Twins last week. The Angels and Oakland Athletics were the last two major-league clubs without a Class A affiliate after Quad Cities signed a four-year deal Monday with the Houston Astros.

It's assumed the A's will end up in Beloit after spending the past two seasons in Burlington. Other affiliation changes in the MWL included Kane County and the Chicago Cubs signing a four-year PDC and Peoria and the St. Louis Cardinals doing the same.

The Kansas City Royals have left the Midwest League in favor of the South Atlantic League, where they will be in Lexington. The Astros correspondingly moved from the South Atlantic League to the MWL.
