Hermsen impressive in Double-A debut

May. 2, 2012 9:21 pm
It's been a great, great start to the 2012 baseball season for B.J. Hermsen. The former West Delaware prep and Minnesota Twins minor leaguer made his Double-A debut Tuesday night, throwing seven strong innings against Harrisburg.
Hermsen allowed only four hits and a walk, striking out five for the New Britain Rock Cats. He was recently promoted from high-Class A Fort Myers, where he went 1-0 in four starts, with a 0.78 earned run average, giving up just two runs in 23 innings.
The 22-year-old right-hander from Masonville was a sixth-round draft pick of the Twins in 2008. He pitched most of last season for Beloit of the Midwest League.
