Jacqueline Mary Gehring, 88, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Sept. 17, 2018, at home surrounded by loved ones. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Pius X Catholic Church by the Rev. Philip Thompson. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family after 9:30 a.m. Friday at the church. Teahen Funeral Home and Cremation service is serving the family.
Jackie is survived by her son, Tom (Beth) Gehring of Mahtomedi, Minn.; grandchildren, Kristen Gehring of Eldora and Brian Gehring of Menomonie, Wis.; and nieces, Michelle (Todd) Hartz-Armstrong of Stevens Point, Wis., and Kim (Paul Gerten) Hartz of Minnetonka, Minn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, in 2013; and brother, Mike Hartz, in 2008.
Jacqueline was born Jan. 28, 1930, in Nashville, Tenn., the daughter of Clarence and Emma Beaudoin Hartz. She attended high school in Bloomer, Wis., and received a Bachelor of Arts in teaching in 1952 from Siena Heights College, Adrian, Mich. Jackie was an elementary school teacher from 1953 to 1957. On June 15, 1957, she married Robert Gehring in New Brighton, Minn. She enjoyed being a housewife and mother.
Jackie loved gardening, reading and crossword puzzles, and had a flair for interior decorating. She had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel. Jackie was very close to her brother, Mike. Jackie will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
