Diane Rizzio
DIANE LYNN (READER) RIZZIO "RIZ"
Cedar Rapids
Diane Lynn (Reader) Rizzio "Riz," 69, of Cedar Rapids, peacefully passed away Friday, Nov. 25, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center surrounded by her loving family and friends after a sudden illness. Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church by the Rev. Ivan Nienhaus. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Teahen Funeral Home and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
Diane was born in Cedar Rapids, the eldest of three, to John and Annabelle Reader. Diane attended Catholic schools and graduated from LaSalle High School. After graduation, Diane held various jobs, including Collins Radio, Mercy Medical Center, and her favorite job, waitressing at Ced-Rel Supper Club. Diane was a natural server, always taking care of other people. However, by far, her proudest role in life was being a mom.
Diane is survived by her five daughters, Amy (Kevin) Wood, Jody (Doug) Traut, Minden (Steven) Luke, Andrea (Scott) Adams and Megan Rizzio (Dillon Richmond). She also is survived by her mother, Annabelle Reader; sister, Kathryn (Gregory) Yates; brother, John (Susan) Reader; and her 10 grandchildren, who knew her as "Nonie."
Diane was preceded in death by her father, John "Dave" Reader, as well as many beloved aunts and uncles.
Diane enjoyed spending as much time as she could with her mother, daughters, grandchildren and extended family.
She was an avid Iowa State Cyclones fan and wore its colors proud.
The family would like to extend their utmost appreciation to the staff in the Mercy ICC and the physicians who have cared for her over the years.
"To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die."
Memorials may be directed to Diane's family.
