McArthur, Josephine E.

Josephine E. McArthur, 99, formerly of Iowa City, died peacefully, surrounded by her family, Friday, Dec. 9, 2011, at the Crestview Nursing and Rehab Center in West Branch.

Josephine E. Ribble was born Oct. 6, 1912, in Thornsburg, Va., the daughter of Thomas and Hannah (Everts) Ribble. The family moved to this area where they farmed west of Iowa City for many years. She was united in marriage to Everette A. McArthur here in Iowa City. Everett died in 1977.

Her family includes a nephew and his wife, Doug and Carlen Ribble of Iowa City; great-nephews and niece and their spouses, Jason and Michelle, Eric and Nikki and Sara and Darren; grandnieces and nephews, Lucas, Allison, Mackenzie, Makayla, Maggie and Benjamin; and her friends at Crestview Care Center and Iowa City Hospice, all whose care of Josephine was of such compassion and skill, thank you.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Everette; and seven brothers and sisters.

Private family services have been held with burial at the Center Point Cemetery where her husband, Everette is buried.
