To the editor:
I was shocked, angry, puzzled and sad when I read the article about the state's allegations against Dr. David Segal ('State accuses C.R. surgeon of malpractice,” May 27).
I had major back surgery last year, and now, after 12 years, am pain free. I have nothing but praise for Dr. Segal. He is a highly skilled neurosurgeon who is also very compassionate and has a great bedside manner.
Several of my friends have had back surgeries performed by Dr. Segal and have nothing but praise for him.
Cedar Rapids is very fortunate to have such a highly skilled doctor in our community. I believe the charges are misguided and unwarranted. I hope and pray we don't lose this great doctor because of these allegations.
