SISTER MARY BOEDING Dubuque Sister Mary Elaine Boeding, OSF, 74, of Sisters of St. Francis, Dubuque, died at 10:45 a.m. Monday, April 13, 2015, in Iowa City. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1 p.m. Saturday, April 18, in Francis Chapel at Sisters of St. Francis, Dubuque. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 17, at Francis Chapel, where there will be a wake service at 7 p.m. Hoffmann Schneider Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Dubuque, is entrusted with arrangements. Sister Mary Elaine was born Sept. 21, 1940, in Petersburg, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Alvira (Naber) Boeding. She entered the Sisters of St. Francis on Oct. 8, 1961, and made final profession of vows on Aug. 12, 1970. Sister ministered as a health care provider in Emporia, Kan., and with Home Health Care, Amicare and Home Instead. She also worked in various capacities at Immaculate Conception Convent, Stonehill Care Center and Visitation Convent in Dubuque. Sister Mary Elaine is survived by her sisters, Dorothy (Wayne) Lovetinsky, Rose Ann (Gary) Davis, Laura Jean (Allen) Behning and Janet (Tom) Wilhelm; her brothers, Francis (Lois) and Al (Patsy); brother-in- law, John Thys; and her Franciscan sisters, with whom she shared 52 years of her life. Sister Mary Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Herman (Coletta), Linus (Joyce) and Leo (Edith); and her sisters, Virginia Wise and Rita Mae Thys.
