TCR members have talent & heart

To the editor:
On Dec. 3, I had the privilege of attending a special matinee of Shrek performed by Theatre Cedar Rapids. This performance lived up to everything I have heard about the talent and professionalism that TCR inhabits.
What made this show even more incredible was the performance was for 550+ preschool through 4th grade students. As I reflect on the experience, I am amazed. Yes, by the incredible talent on stage and behind the scenes to put on this show, but even more so, at the amazing show of generosity. While visiting with another teacher after returning to the building, we discussed the number of people involved in the production.
Every one of those people probably had a million other things they could or should have been doing that morning. Work, school, Christmas shopping, etc. were all set aside. The actors, the stagehands, the lights, the sound people, the orchestra, etc., all sacrificed their time to give our students a gift that many would otherwise never have the opportunity to receive. That tells us something else about TCR - the members not only have talent and dedication, they have giving hearts.
Thank you, TCR, for giving our staff and students the precious gift of your time and talents.
