Arnold D. "Arnie" Harger, 75, of Toddville, passed away at his home on Monday, Feb. 15, 2016, following a long illness. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. Celebration of Life: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Ruth Ann Harger; his children, Krista (Tom) Stern of Walker and Rick (Kris) Harger of Toddville; grandchildren, Matt Stern, Mitch Harger and Maddie Harger; and sisters, Carol Peterson of Wisconsin, Bonnie Mathis of Iowa City and Mary Ellen Simpson of Louisiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Mildred Harger; three brothers; and one sister.
Arnie was born Aug. 22, 1940, to Don and Mildred (Robinson) Harger in San Antonio, Texas. He attended Alburnett High School. Arnie married Ruth Ann on Dec. 17, 1959, in Cedar Rapids. He co-owned and operated H & H Construction (along with his brother, Rich) for over 35 years. Arnie was a member of Ducks Unlimited Blue Creek Chapter. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
