Arnold Schneider, 84, of Waterloo, died Thursday, April 7, 2016, at his home.
Mr. Schneider was born July 8, 1931, in rural Bremer County, the son of Elmer and Helena (Oltrogge) Schneider.
Mr. Schneider joined the U.S. Army and served during the Korean conflict. On Aug. 22, 1955, he was united in marriage to Betty Ann McNamara. She preceded him in death in 1970.
He worked at Rath Packing Co. until its closing and then as a carpenter for Town & Country Home Improvement.
Arnold was an avid square dancer and also liked to build clocks in his spare time, including multiple grandfather clocks.
Mr. Schneider is survived by a son, Jim (Pat) Schneider of Hiawatha; a daughter, Cathy (Kenny) Wright of Weimar, Calif.; six grandchildren; a great- granddaughter; two brothers, Harvey (Gloria) Schneider of Wisconsin and Robert "Duke" (Marion) Schneider of Waverly; and three sisters, Esther Bast of Fairbank and Norma Schlicting and Irma Goeller, both of Waterloo.
Mr. Schneider was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty Ann; and two twin daughters in infancy, Marilyn and Carolyn.
Private graveside services will be at a later date.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
