Hubert Seago, 87, of Vinton, formerly of Dysart, died Friday, July 1, 2016, at Virginia Gay Nursing and Rehab Center, Vinton, following a lengthy illness. Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, July 9, Overton Funeral Home, Dysart, with visitation one hour before. Burial: Dysart Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Dysart American Legion. Hubert Arthur Seago was born Dec. 11, 1928, in Arlington, Iowa, the son of John and Thelma (Weston) Seago. He attended school in Volga until the 10th grade. Hubert served his county in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953, during the Korean conflict. On June 22, 1957, he was united in marriage to Luyverl Waterman at Elk Port Lutheran Church near Guttenberg. Hubert worked as a hired man on dairy farms in Elgin, Wis., Elkader and Dysart. He also worked for Funks Seedcorn in Traer and Belle Plaine. He was a member of the Dysart American Legion and enjoyed woodworking, sweetcorn and morel mushrooms.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters, Eula Berger, Verna Squires, Alta Odegard and Sharon Rohrig.
Hubert is survived by his wife; two daughters, Vicki (Scott) Judas of Denver and Sue Wallin of Dysart; a son, Mark Seago of Dysart; and four grandchildren, Jessica Judas, Michael Wallin, Kylie Seago and Katy Wallin.
