Arnold, Gary Eugene
Gary Eugene Arnold, 56, of Cedar Rapids, died at home Tuesday, June 12, 2012. A gathering will be held Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. at his home, 724 Seventh St SW. Iowa Cremation is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his mother, Shirley Meyers of Cedar Rapids; his stepmother, Jane M. Arnold of Florissant, Mo.; his siblings, Douglas D. Arnold of Marion, Debbie D. Jensen of Cedar Rapids, Terry L. (Cynthia) Arnold of Cameron Park, Calif., Larry D. (Nanette) Arnold of Florissant, Mo., Pamela S. (Allen) Schmidt of Thorton, Colo., Wendy D. (Duane) Elsbury of Elberon, Iowa, William D. Meyers of Cedar Rapids, Karen L. Gladwin of Cedar Rapids, Barb A. Meyers of Oelwein and Lori J. Meyers of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dale Raymond Arnold; and his grandparents, Charles and Anna Arnold, Ray and Helen Anthony and Ray Huff and Rachael Hutchoff.
Gary was born Oct. 22, 1955, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Dale and Shirley (Huff) Arnold. He was employed with the City of Cedar Rapids as a heavy duty driver. Gary loved sports. He played football for Mount Vernon; they were state champions in 1974. He also played for the Mount Vernon Shriners North Football Team, Little League Baseball and slow pitch. Gary was a Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeye fan. He loved flowers and his birds, Jake and Quizzie.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
