Barbara Marie White Streed, 76, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Sept. 12, 2016, in her home at Mountain Home, Ark., following a long illness.
Services will be held at a later date in Mountain Home.
Born Jan. 19, 1940, in Kansas City, Mo., Barbara was the daughter of Lewis William and Vivian Merle Harwi White. During her high school summers, she was a competitive swimmer and the first female lifeguard at Ellis Park swimming pool in Cedar Rapids. She was a part of the last graduating class at McKinley High School in 1957.
She worked for many years in the Chicago area and later in California. In her retirement Barb enjoyed building doll houses, camping, boating and fishing.
Survivors include her good friend, Lorenzo Maldonado of Mountain Home; a sister, Susan Brosh Scott and her husband, Rich, of Loudon, Tenn.; a brother, Richard W. White and his wife, Linda, of Wadsworth, Ill.; two nieces, Jenifer Visek and Stephanie White, and two great-nieces, Bailey and Peyton Visek, all of the Chicago area.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a great-niece.
Also surviving are her two black labs, BJ and Bo.
