Follow in the footsteps of our forebearers

Kudos to KCRG and its presentation of the Cedar Rapids fireworks display. It was a delight to watch.
Special thanks should be given to those who arranged the music. Maybe I'm biased in my perception, but it seems to me that in the middle of the vocals was Neil Diamond's 'Coming to America,” with its lyrics: 'We've been traveling far; without a home, but not without a star. Free, only want to be free; we huddle close, hang on to a dream. On the boats and on the planes, they're coming to America. Never looking back again, they're coming to America.”
Make America great again by welcoming migrants who want to work for a fair wage. Make America great again by doing what our forebears did on accepting workforces that made us great in the first place. They might not have appreciated it at the time, but where would we be without those migrants and their work ethic?
America, Cedar Rapidians, decide who you want to be as a nation. Are we going to side with the dictators of the world? Have we shucked off one king to embrace another pretender to the throne? Are our allies to be left in the dust because someone feels they have disrespected his inflated ego?
Iowans, you are going to be jilted out of a billion dollars of exports as our politicians plead patience with the administration's attempts to protect our (or its?) interests. God bless America, the land of the free.
