Cedar Rapids travel agency acquires one in Iowa City

Two Corridor-area travel companies now are under one name.

Cedar Rapids-based Travel Leaders/Destinations Unlimited announced Monday it has acquired Winebrenner Red Carpet Travel, based in Iowa City.

Winebrenner's clients include the University of Iowa. The agency will maintain its current staff of four full-time employees and three part-time employees.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The announcement comes soon after Travel Leaders relocated its headquarters to downtown Cedar Rapids. Two weeks ago, the company moved its 22 employees into a portion of the former Science Station building, 419 First Street SE.

It previously was based on Council Street.

'Not only does our move downtown provide one and a half times the space that we have on Council Street, but it also puts us in the heart of the growing Cedar Rapids metropolitan-area,” Travel Leaders President Anne Jasper said in a statement in August.
