FRANCES AKERS Troy Mills Frances "Alberta" Akers, 97, a resident of Linn Manor Care Center, Marion, formerly of Troy Mills, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015, at the Ed and Joan Hemphill Inpatient Hospice Center of St. Luke's, Cedar Rapids. Funeral services: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion, by Pastor Sheri Anderson. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9, at the funeral home in Marion. Burial: Mount Clark Cemetery, Central City. Survivors include her son, Victor "Darrell" (Judy) Akers of Marion; granddaughter, Victoria (and special friend, Kyle); great-grandchildren, Alex, Jesse, Emily, Trystan and Adilyn; and great-great-grandson, Marcus. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Victor; and siblings, Hazel, Marie, Frank, Pat and Nettie. Alberta was born Nov. 24, 1917, in Freeborn, Minn., the daughter of Earl and Mary (Mucha) McCann. She loved cooking, fishing and gardening. Alberta loved her family and spending time with them.
