To the editor:
Many are concerned about 'The Donald” possibly winning the presidency. It's true, he is unconventional to say the least, and uses little political jargon - you know words like 'POTUS” and 'vetting.” I knew the meaning of vetting, but not its origin. Well, while sitting in my doctor's office I picked up a copy of TidBits and there was my answer. The term apparently originated at the track where veterinarians checked out horses before racing, thus the term 'vetting.” But I digress.
So what if Donald Trump were elected president? He has an excellent business background, beautiful children, none of whom seem to be afflicted with affluenza, and a gorgeous wife - stylish, no pantsuits. She reminds me of Jackie and Nancy. Remember them? With all these assets to protect I would think that Trump will surround himself with the most competent military, economic and foreign policy advisers to try to keep everyone safe. He may even take their advice and make this country great again.
Regarding the library situation, I agree with a previous contributor ('Trails, libraries should be funded by users,” Dec. 16). Charge a minimal fee. There are no free rides. Then parents can gift their children library memberships instead of computer games or designer clothing.
Now I want to wish all of you a very happy and safe new year.
