Blake, Mariella
Mariella Blake, 73, of Winthrop, entered into her eternal rest on Sunday, April 22, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids following a short illness.
Mariella was born Dec. 25, 1938, in rural Center Point, Iowa, the daughter of Leo and Madelene Woodward Lala. She attended Center Point Schools. Mariella was married to Carl Blake on Aug. 1, 1978. They lived in Clarinda, Iowa, for 25 years, until moving to Winthrop in 2005. Mariella was the best cook in the world and enjoyed needle punch and painting ceramics and china.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Gene.
Survivors include her husband, Carl of Winthrop; several children; numerous grandchildren; two brother, Robert Lala of Center Point, and Donald (Marilyn) Lala of Center Point; one sister, Mardella (Rollie) Hausman of Columbia, Mo..; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Lala of Center Point; numerous nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
As per her wishes, Mariella has been cremated and private family interment will take place later.
The Fawcett Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Winthrop is assisting the family with arrangements.
