Charles "Chuck" Glenn Hosford, 81, died Tuesday, June 21, 2016. A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, June 25, at Cedar Rapids Grace Church, 2905 D Ave. NE. Chuck's body is being cremated according to his wishes.
Survivors include his wife, Audrey (Gilkison) Hosford; children, Wendy, Leland and Glenn, all of Cedar Rapids; brothers, Clifford, Cenyen and Clair Eugene; sisters, Casandra Woodward and Celia Miranda; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles A. and Dorothy L. (Skaife) Hosford; brothers Clayton and Conrad; and sister Cynthia Taylor.
Raised in Council Bluffs, Iowa, Chuck went to DeVry Tech in Chicago before spending six years in the Navy and the Naval Reserves. He married Audrey Gilkison in 1962 and returned to Iowa to work at Collins Radio, most recently as a software engineer, before retiring. He then worked briefly at Norand and was active many years in the downtown Toastmasters. Chuck's career culminated in writing a self-published novel, an adventure story for teenagers, while helping others with computers and projects. He was much loved for his caring and positive attitude. He will be missed.
