Lawrence Brockhohn, 89, died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2016, at the Jones Regional Medical Center, Anamosa. A Celebration of Life visistiation will be held from 4 until 8 p.m. Thursday at Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello. Private family interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery.
Surviving are four children, Robert of Woodward, Okla., Larry (Shirley) and Richard, both of Monticello, and Carolyn (Kenneth) Knight of Robins; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Ronald; four brothers, Louis, Clarence, Alvin and Ernest; and two sisters, Berdena Darrow and Irene Brockhohn.
Lawrence Meinhart Brockhohn was born July 7, 1926, in Cass Township, Jones County, Iowa. He was the son of Herman and Elminnie Kray Brockhohn. He received his education in the rural schools near his home. Lawrence started working at Iowa Manufacturing at age 17. He was employed there for 38½ years before he retired.
Lawrence loved to garden, play cards and go fishing and dancing.
The family would like to thank Above and Beyond Hospice for all their care and comfort during Lawrence's illness.
