Police: Body pulled from Iowa River identified as UNI student from Marion

IOWA CITY — The dead body pulled from the Iowa River on Saturday has been identified as a University of Northern Iowa student.
According to the Johnson County Sheriff's Office, the body was identified as Nathan Twedt, 21, of Marion. Twedt was listed as attending UNI, the sheriff's office said Sunday.
The sheriff's office said the body was pulled from the river at 7:48 p.m. after emergency personnel arrived at the scene north of the Benton Street Bridge in Iowa City and deployed boats in the water.
The Joint Emergency Communication Center received a report of a subject in the river around 6:30 p.m. Saturday, the sheriff's office said.
The investigation is ongoing, and the sheriff's office is seeking help from the public as they attempt to reconstruct what happened. Anyone who has information or who may have witnessed the incident is asked to call the non-emergency dispatch line at (319) 356-6020.
The Iowa City Police Department, Iowa City Fire Department, Johnson County Ambulance, Johnson County Metro Dive Team and the Johnson County Medical Examiner also responded to the incident.
