A 31-year-old eastern Iowa man has been accused of shooting his father during a dispute in the family home.
The Dubuque County Sheriff's Office says 60-year-old Adam Podnar, of Asbury, went into a Casey's General Store in Asbury around 7:30 p.m. Thursday and said he'd been shot by his son.
Podnar was taken to a Dubuque hospital for treatment, where he was listed in critical condition Thursday night.
Investigators say there had been an argument between Podnar and his son Anthony at the family's home in Asbury and that Anthony used a .22-caliber rifle to shoot his father once in the abdomen. Investigators also say Anthony Podnar threatened his brother, 41-year-old Alexander Podnar, but Alexander left the home safely before officers arrived and arrested Anthony Podnar.
Anthony Podnar remains in custody on charges of attempted murder and going armed with intent. Online court records don't list the case yet.
