Iowa DOT snubbed Cedar Rapids Library

To the editor:
I read with great amusement the June 9 article in The Gazette 'Renew your license while buying milk” concerning the locations of the kiosks for renewing driver's license chosen by the Iowa Department of Transportation.
I went online to verify the locations: Marion Public Library, Oakland Road Hy-Vee, North Liberty Public Library and the Iowa City Public Library. Nothing on the SE or NW side of Cedar Rapids.
I guess the Cedar Rapids Public Library isn't as 'world class” as the Cedar Rapids Library Committee and the Cedar Rapids City Council feel that it is.
Closing the library one day a week is better than having a 27 cents/$1,000 levy on residential property in Cedar Rapids. After all, if the IDOT does not think we are 'world class” by snubbing the library, why should the residents have to pay the levy for that supposedly 'world class” library?
I think there are better ways to cut back on the library budget. I would love to try and do that. Do you think they would let me?
