Malvern Shedeck passed away Friday, Aug. 31, 2018,
at St. Luke's Hospital at the age of 97. In honor of Malvern's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A private family inurnment will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, at Cedar Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Malvern was born July 14, 1921, in Oxford Junction, Iowa, to Joseph and Tillie Shedeck. Mal graduated from Oxford Junction and continued his education, earning a degree from Coe College. Mal started out coaching and later worked at Sanitary Dairy, later Land O'Lakes, until his retirement. After retirement, he had several odd jobs he enjoyed. During his school years, Mal was an athlete, participating in baseball, basketball, football and winning the Golden Gloves in boxing. As a young man, he enjoyed softball, playing in the M&J league and golfing. Mal especially loved doing activities with his wife, Zella, such as dancing, golfing and attending sporting events. Mal always enjoyed good conversation, family time, attending Kernels games and laughs with Roscoe.
Those left to honor Malvern's memory are his children, Steve (Kathy) Shedeck, Janet (Roscoe) Dahl, Mal Shedeck and Kathy (Richard) Cheatham; and grandchildren, Todd, Scott, Kyle, Chris, Cody, Aaron and Sonny. Other family members left to cherish Malvern's memory are his 10 great-grandchildren, a few cousins and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; one daughter, Debra Shedeck; and his siblings, Ruby, Myrtle, Eleanor and LeRoy.
