Russell E. Fritz, 62, of Marengo, Iowa, lost his battle with cancer on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Service: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 26, at the funeral home. Burial: 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Bishop Cemetery, Marengo.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Kathleen Fritz of Marengo; his children, Brian (Diana) Fritz of Marshalltown, Iowa, and Jamie (Michelle) Fritz of Solon, Iowa; and six grandchildren, Mariah, Maci, Brady, Cody, Cole and Emma.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Bill, Dick and Ron.
Russell was born on April 15, 1953, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Robert W. and Helen M. (Brazauski) Fritz. He attended Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids. Russell married Kathleen Day on Aug. 1, 1970, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He was a journeyman plumber for 20 years for the Local 125 Plumbers and Pipefitters. Russell was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching sports events.
