Dunlap, Joan Irene (Harrington)
CEDAR RAPIDS - Joan Irene (Harrington) Dunlap, 79, of Cedar Rapids, died Sept. 23, 2010, at Heritage Nursing and Rehab Center. Services will be held on Monday, Sept. 27, at 11 a.m. at Christ Church Presbyterian, 2000 First Ave. NW. The Rev. Ron Lewis will officiate. Visitation will be held at the church one hour before the service, with burial to follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
She is survived by two daughters, Pam Wessling (Mike) of Garland, Texas and Vicki Zachman of Cedar Rapids, as well as two sons, Steve Dunlap of Cedar Rapids and Randy Dunlap (Sara) of Daleville, Va. Also surviving are sisters, Marilyn Reed of Cedar Rapids and Diane (Ron) Christensen of Jacksonville, Fla.; brother, Eugene Harrington (Marty) of Cedar Falls; grandsons, Jeff Zachman and Craig (Tracy) Zachman; granddaughter, Kristin (Chad) Sims; five great-granddaughters and one great-grandson.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Viola Harrington.
Joan was born Oct. 2, 1930, in Des Moines, Iowa. She graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1948, and married Don Dunlap a year later, on July 29, 1949.
She was a member of Christ Church Presbyterian since the 1950s along with choir over 30 years. She was a member of PEO Chapter KK since 1959 as well as a member of Abbe Creek Questers since 1988. She loved shopping, antiquing with friends, decorating her home, and her time spent volunteering in schools and hospitals.
Joan was devoted to her family and many friends. She had a very busy life in the early years of her children's lives while Don was in the service and college. She was rewarded with four very fine children who were very special to her.

The family would like to thank Higley Mansion Care Center, Mercy Medical Center, Heritage Nursing and Rehab Center, and Mercy Hospice for their caring compassion shown to Joan.
