A District Court judge has sided with the Iowa Board of Medicine in the case of a former University of Iowa surgeon who was fired in 2005.
Johnson County District Court Judge Paul Miller dismissed the case filed by Adel Al-Jurf, who requested relief on judicial review after his appeals in an administrative case were exhausted.
Court records show that Al-Jurf was fired in 2005 after complaints were filed relating to his conduct toward colleagues and students. His termination was upheld through administrative and judicial appeals.
Al-Jurf claimed UI officials fired him after documenting incidents that were normally ignored and encouraging others to file the complaints.
