Dec. 8, 2014 10:55 am
DES MOINES - Gov. Terry Branstad and Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds announced Monday plans for the Jan. 16 inauguration ceremony and the inaugural ball that will follow that evening.
Branstad will be sworn in for a record sixth, four-year term and Reynolds will take the oath of office for her second term during ceremonies next month at the Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center Ballroom in downtown Des Moines. A service of dedication will be held the evening before the Jan. 16 events at Christ the King Church in Des Moines.
Tickets for the 2015 inaugural ceremony and ball are available online at www.BranstadReynolds.com. Des Moines businessmen Jim Cownie and Bill Knapp will serve as co-leaders of the inaugural committee, and Phil Valenziano will serve as the inaugural director.
The swearing-in ceremony in the morning is free of charge but due to space constraints, organizers say attendees are asked to register for a ticket which can be purchased for $75. Net proceeds of all tickets will go to the Branstad-Reynolds Scholarship Fund.
Additional information about the inaugural events and activities will be released later.
